This 8-stage adjustable hand crimping tool meets the requirements of MIL-DTL-22520. The AF8 crimping tool is used to produce eight-notch crimp terminals with excellent characteristics. When the appropriate crimp die or positioner is inserted into the AF8 or M22520/1-01 pliers and one of the eight crimp levels is set, the M22520 crimping tool can crimp a wide range of MS crimp terminals, MIL-DTL-39029 crimp terminals and other terminals. The AF8 hand crimping tool is used to wire cables with AWG cross-sections 12 to 26 with contacts of terminal sizes 12 to 22.
A table on the insert indicates the crimp depth to be set for each combination of contact and cable cross-section. A locking mechanism ensures that each crimping operation is completed. Once the crimping operation has been started, the locking mechanism forces the die to close completely. Only then can it be opened again and release the crimped contact.
A stop, which is only adjusted by qualified personnel, determines the crimp depth for the contact size and conductor cross-section. Replaceable crimp dies ensure proper crimping of contacts. A locking mechanism ensures that each crimping operation is completed. Over- or under-crimping is virtually impossible.
